What is Counselling?

Counselling is a process which enables you to share with your counsellor personal and/or emotional difficulties. It is a non-judgemental process and works towards helping you gain insight and understanding of your problem.

Counselling offers the opportunity to discover ways of resolving or coping with the difficulties that cause distress.

It is not always easy and requires a commitment and a willingness to stay in the process which can be painful - but a process that can also lead to discovering a way forward for you.

Counselling can help with a variety of problems:

  • Feeling lonely or isolated
  • Low self esteem
  • A new marriage
  • A new baby
  • Loss or bereavement
  • Divorce and Separation
  • Managing change
  • Marriage and relationships
  • Pain and illness
  • Sexual Abuse
  • Sexual Difficulties
  • Stress and anxiety
  • A traumatic event
  • Violence and abuse
  • Work related problems

It may be that your problem might not fit into this category but we can discuss what is worrying you.

As a counsellor I provide a range of approaches and interventions which will be discussed with you at the initial consultation.

I work to the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) code of ethics and attend regular supervision. I have professional indemnity insurance.

You can also see my details on the BACP website by clicking here (www.bacp.co.uk ). Once you arrive at the site click on find a therapist - search under Oxfordshire and type in Bicester. You will find my details.
